On this day in 1949, Vicki Lawrence was born.

A few weeks ago, I watched the movie Boys Town and very much enjoyed it. Spencer Tracy plays the part of a priest named Father Flanagan who creates a home for troubled boys. The more the population of boys grows, the more he realizes that he needs to build a bigger area. So he asks for help from not just the boys, but also from a shop manager named Dave (played by Henry Hull) to help him with the funds. Few have faith that creating the new home could happen and what makes things more difficult is an unruly young man named Whitey brought to the home (played by Mickey Rooney). Despite Whitey's bad behavior, Father Flanagan has faith that he can change. He always thought that "there is no such thing as a bad boy." Eventually the home is complete and Whitey changes his ways. I liked the fact that all the boys in the home had someone to talk to and who would listen to whatever may be bothering them. Kids deserve to be listened to and cared for, just like in this movie...

Sidney Poitier was born on February 20th, 1927. First black actor to win an Academy Award. It was for the film Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Two other most memorable performances of Sidney's are In The Heat of the Night and To Sir, With Love.

Star of Creature From the Black Lagoon Ricou Browning was born February 16, 1930.  He is also a director, producer, and an underwater cinematographer and stuntman.  Ricou was a major in physical education at Florida State University and has one son who is a world-renowned marine coordinator and an underwater actor.  Have a fabulous birthday, Ricou! :) 

On February 15, 1927 actor/comedian Harvey Korman was born. Made me laugh at times when he was a regular star on the Carol Burnett Show.
